advice needed regarding aftercare for tplo (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy)

i found out yesterday that my 5 year old staffy could need a tplo,if not the tplo then a ligament replacement.we are being referred to a specialist vet but i am trying to prepare myself so i know what to expect.i am very keen to get her home asap and there is a possibility that she may be allowed home the same day as the op(depending on the vets opinion and how she recovers from surgery).has anybody here had their dog home the same day?did you struggle to stop them from walking around?did they appear to be in alot of pain?
any advice and experiences would be brilliant

Hi Griff
Well, I asked the very same question a couple of weeks ago. My 16 month old Labrador 'Belle' had the op just last week. We took her one day and brought her home the next. The op does not seem to have bothered her and our only difficulty is trying to keep her quiet and rested. We take her back for a check up in four weeks time and an X Ray at eight weeks to check if everything is ok.
Her bed is at the bottom of our hall which is L shaped so we have put a dog gate across to confine her when we're not around. The area measures 6ft 5in by 3 ft. It looks very cosy with her new fleecy bedding.
Any more questions please do not hesitate to contact me if I can help I will, just as the other supportive dogwebbers will.

Thank again to all other dogwebbers for their support.
