Dogs in France

Does anyone here know anything about the role of dogs in France?

To they use dogs for the same sorts of things as we do here? - for example, ER dogs, support dogs, guide dogs etc.

I need to decide what to do my French coursework on and thought that if there was enough to write about the role of dogs in France I'd try and make something out of that seeing as it's what I'm most interested in.

So if there's anyone here who lives or has lived with their dogs in France, could you let me know? I could research it but I can't go into it too much until I know there's nothing I can write about!

Thanks

Cant really help with the question of whether they use support dogs, but I do no they are so much more tolerant of dogs. We have been to France for skiing holidays several times and they are allowed in the restaurants, I have seen one sitting in a chair at the hairdressers, in the bars, and in the airport. They were allowed in the holiday apartments where we stayed. They dont seem to have any restrictions like we do over here.
