I've had a call from press but I have declined to comment until I know what happened.

Oh no thats awful! I feel so sorry and upset for the family.

That staffies owners should be put down not the staff! If he had been socialised and well bought up by his owners in the first place im sure this would never have happened.

Urgh these sort of things jus make me speechless. Im sorry but i dont believe any animal is born evil or bad. You can only blame the owners. I bet incidents like this make you so mad too. Gives poor Staffies a bad rep as well

Think the paper should get the facts straight, was it a bull terrier, a staffie or a bull type cross, they do not seem to know there is a difference but to call it all three within a couple of paragraphs seems unduly slovenly.

the large golden coloured dog - and also the words stafford cross spring to my mind - exactly what kind of dog was it ? I have never met a golden coloured staffie ??

very sad tale for the poor wee puppy - but again - assumption that its a staffie - when actually its a crossbreed.

The Edinburgh Evening News has never been renowned for either its grammar or its accuracy: it's a sort of MacSun, in a lot of ways - just no bare ladies on page 3!
