Dogs and bitches living together?

Hi

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on bringing up a male and female dog together. The female would be spayed and the male neutered. Is this a better combination than male+male and female+female?

What problems can you face by having opposite sex dogs in the same house? Are there more problems associated with male+female companions?

Thoughts please!

I have one of each and there are absolutely no problems with it. They have both been 'done', but that was a recent thing. For the last 4 years the bitch was intact.

My main concern was is the male really, just wondering if he is always trying to hump the female?

Do you mean getting them at the same time? Just wondering as you say "bringing them up together". If so I think practically everyone here will advise you not to get 2 puppies at once.

Lots of people have a dog and a bitch together and have no problems. It's probably the combination least likely to be problematic although problems can still occur.

I have males and females together, most of my females arent spayed but the boys are done, so even with unspayed girls there is no humping

We only ever had one episode of humping back when they were about 1 year old.
She soon put him in his place

The only humping around here is when my bitch gets too excited in play and humps my boy
Otherwise no problems at all

Having two puppies of a similar age is more hard work than 1 tho (and 1 puppy is hard work) most likely the biggest potential problem is that they can become super bonded to each other so you would have to take time every day to walk and train them seperatly

I am fine with the separate walking them and training them, they will get alot of separate time and I won't be letting them sleep together for a good while if ever

Funny to imagine a girl humping a boy lmao!
