When did your dog mature?

When do you think your dog matured mentally - or when you feel their personality had formed/completed?

Just to be clear, I don't mean when they stopped being a puppy (as some dogs never stop behaving like a puppy) but at what point did they finish becoming the dog they are today (I guess this applies to those with adult dogs).

When I had Sam, Border Collie, he settled into maturity at around 18 months.

Hal never grew up, and he was put down when he was 10! Tai is 10, and although is showing physical signs of maturity, mentally he still is an oaf! Ben is about 6, and is an oaf and a git and definitely still a puppy!

Henry will be 3 years old this month and, over the last 6 months or so, he has quietened down a lot at home and I have noticed that his head had broadened a fair bit.

People have taken photos of him at the championship shows and I can see a change in his overall shape and maturity between those taken at the same shows last year when I had already thought he was a mature dog.

Clive and I were only chatting about this last night and I said that Hen is now the finished article, and we couldn't be happier. He is both handsome and a joy to live with

As a rule with English Setters, I think between 2 years and 3 years they really change and suddenly develop into a mature animal without you realising
