Waiting on a star

My husband and I just picked out a golden saint puppy (golden retriever/st. bernard) on Friday. We are so excited to get her. We will be picking her up on April 26. The people we are getting her from have 3 children and they named the pup Star. We are going to keep the name as my husband and I think it fits her perfectly.

I have had a puppy before but that was 5 years ago, and before that about 17 years ago!! I'm wondering if anything has changed since then with training.

I'm a little cautious about adding a puppy to our home since we have a 2 year old. We really love dogs and we wanted our daughter to know the joy of having a puppy at a young age. I'm sure all of my doubts will vanish as we see the pup and our daughter interacting together.

Were the parent dogs health tested for the conditions that Goldens and Saint Bernards tend to suffer from....?

yes. The pup also comes with first shots and dewormed and vet checked as well. We are going to bring the pup to the vet shortly after she comes home with us to be sure she has no other health problems.

Bet you can't wait.

All you need to do is love her and apply some common sense and you'll be fine. She's going to be a big girl so remember to socialise in a very positive way as soon as you can so that she doesn't fear the things she meets throughout her life
