Chlorophyll tablets for bitch on heat..

I have been trying to find something to give to my bitch when she comes into heat the first time so my boy will not try to hump her.... ( if there is such a lucky thing ).. I will have her spayed but would like to wait till after she had her first heat.. Lots of people and vets advice you to spay a giant breed as late as possible or at least wait till she had her first heat... Now I have read about the chlorophyll tablets... anyone had any success with these and also what would be the dosage to give to my bitch ( will weigh around 40 kg by then I think ).... Any help appreciated.....

The only way to prevent a pregnancy is to manage the environment to ensure access is not possible.

Chlorphyll tablets will not mask the odour of a season (unless your male has an olfactory impediment)

Furthermore for some dogs the ADDITION of this actually SIGNALS that the bitch is in heat.

Please, please, please do not rely on ANYTHING bar total inaccessbility to prevent pregnancy.

Using products like these is a bit like using the rhythm method in humans, it relies on a lot of luck.

Thank you smokeybear and I know I will have to watch them, which will not be easy but we will manage one way or another... just thought the use of these tablets might make it less obvious, lol...

Its not about watching them, its about making absolutely CERTAIN he cannot get to her and vise versa. Its it not difficult, just need to be very sure about shutting doors and not allowing them to get to one another. Good luck.

Thanks Dawn.... Will be quite difficult as they are outside dogs... they are allowed in but they like to be outside most of the time and it will be a bi**ch ( excuse the pun ) to keep them seperated... ( specially with nearly 7000 M2 of land )..need all the luck I can get, lol...

I know people who find the tablets effective, although not with the dogs who live with the bitch. He's bound to notice! I tried them but my girl hates taking tablets so I gave up as she was stressing about it.

Hi Gill, mine don't mind taking tablets at all, so would not be a problem, it's just knowing how many and what dosage as you can buy 50 and 100 mg....
