I'm being ignored!

Shila is a man's dog, she's big on men and would do anything for them but she's my dog, recently my o/h has been off work and i've been working so he's been taking all 3 out, well today i've has a day off so took them all out with o/h and was completely ignored by her!!!

I tried to do a bit of heel work with her off lead on the way home (we live in a quiet village) and she was at his heels not mine!! when i called her over to me so sat down n looked at o/h waiting for his command

Is this something that will go or should i just get used to the fact my dog is now no longer mine

She does do what i ask her but she's always looking for reassurance from o/h.

You will often find that a dog will choose its favourite person, and if you are out together nothing will change that.

The good news is perhaps this means you could get another dog!?

I have the perfect puppy for you Her name is Sally and she still needs a home

Don't worry, Adie always says Benjie is his dog - but it's clear he's his Dad's dog.
Sadie is my neighbours dog - yet will completely ignore them if I'm in the picture.
And Louie was supposed to be mine and the OH's but he listens more to me and does as he is told with me - OH hates that!

I think you ought to get another dog *hint hint* and then tell him to back off and that this is your dog!

Maybe doing more things just the 2 of you will help? Axel 'prefers' each of us at different times, kind of depends on who walks him more or feeds him most...normally me Hubbie always complains when he's giving Axel fuss, Axel is always looking at me!
If you already do that, then I have other ideas, other than out-doing him with you having the best treats ever!

I have the same problem with our lot so I work really hard with Culotte to keep her my dog. I dont know what it is but some people just have a way about them that dogs go for.
So as Insomnia said do things with just the two of you, playing, walking going out to nice places together that should help.

When it comes down to it though - the dog will choose it's owner LOL - I'm afraid you're only answer is another dog *hint hint*

I'm joking

Just go back to basics with her and work really hard...
