Poor Rabbit :(

I just hate seeing rabbits that are alone and just stuck in a hutch all day, usually after being bought for kids, who have got bored of them.

Near to our local Morrisons, there is a house with a small garden in the front, which you can just see in to when you walk past. They have obviously got young children, as there are lots of kids toys out there. But there is also, tucked away in the corner of the garden, a hutch, with a small black rabbbit in it. There is no sign of a run of any kind and the water bottle is all green near the base and it also looks like the bottle isn't very easy to drink out of, as it isn't properly upright for the water to drip from.

I feel really sad every time I walk past this garden and see the little rabbit, who looks very bored and lonely and it makes me feel like crying. I just wish people would think before they get animals and give them the life they need/deserve. It just makes me so mad and upset thinking about it all. We also keep Fancy Rats, along with our Storm and we have never, ever kept just one, as they are sociable animals (same as rabbits) and can suffer psychologically if kept alone. They also have a huge cage and have free range time for at least two hours every night. That's the least any pet deserves, having it's physical and emotional needs met....Why can't all people think the same, or if they can't be bothered, then not get a pet to start with!

I really think that it should be a lot tougher for people to keep animals, it's just too easy for anyone to go and get any animal (unless in a shelter) without having any questions asked about how they are going to keep them and it's totally wrong!

I feel the same, hence why I end up taking them in

We have a pet shop near us that sell them and Im always saying to the people that run it....why do people just buy one???? do you not promote buying two.
But then some people just don't care for the one do they.
I've also seen longhaired ones like Mohair and they are supposed to be kept off the ground of muck etc and groomed regualr to stop them matting, I really do think that the laws should be tougher for these poor animals, they get so easily forgotten then they suffer so much, funnily enough I never hear proper ''advice'' given either when they are sold, things like ''Oh just given them greens and stuff'' or ''Just feed them this mix'' are usually the only thing said....... they never explain about the constant growing of thier teeth, spurs on the back teeth, vaccinations, things to play with, reqular cleaning out, proper diet, runs to wonder around in, socialisation with humans and other rabbits, illnesses, cleaning of bowls and bottles etc., Its so maddening

It's very sad how many pets get to live totally unsuitable and depressing lives, because people either don't care or are totally ignorant. It would be a great thing if all pet shop staff were made to learn about the animals they stock and make sure that they also made potential new owners aware of how to look after their new pets properly too. But also, it is down to the people who buy animals to do their research before buying and sadly a lot of people don't.

Thats so sad. My 2 buns have a huge hutch and a lovely big run and I wouldnt have it any other way! We were given a female rabiit early this year. She'd been a gift fro the kids who quickly lost interest and never went out of her hutch. We got her neutered and then went to RSPCA to get her a husband. They're now like an old married couple and its so lovely to see them together. Maybe one day, someone will come and liberate that little bun.

Its very sad
My rabbits have a big shed and access all day to a fenced off 'bunny garden'.
I think rabs should be in pairs or groups BUT my rabbit that lives with my parents does not tollerate other rabbits, not even living next to him
