Well Done, RSPCA

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle6835953.ece
and a big thanks to all those involved in bringing this evil gang to justice. Hopefully this bust will also give the police and RSPCA the names of those who support this cruelty.

Lets hope the sentences are severe ones.

So sad that Steve Ibinson is not alive to see what he helped to achieve -his contribution was pretty substantial.

B*gger sentencing, lets put them all in a pit, and tell them that whoever survives gets to go free...see what messes they make of each other, the only snag, the survivor gets sent to prison for life - that would be a fair sentence in my opinion. Sick SOBs, well done RSPCA

Really aren't words to describe these sorts of people. Let's hope the sentences are as harsh as possible.

Incidently, did anyone listen to Jeremy Vine this afternoon discussing this?
Have to say I switched off when the RSPCA guy who was interviewed said these dogs could never be rehabilitated and homed safely and then JV chipped in with the gem that they would never be safe around a child and probably attack them.
Am totally mistaken in that some of Michael Vicks dogs have been succesfully rehabed or am I making that up?

Yes, they have a website http://www.badrap.org/rescue/vick/
and many have indeed been rehomed.
Pity the RSPCA guy let his organisation down like that.

yes great that they were found guilty, but rea;istically 6 months in prison just gives them time to find more contacts to start again. People who enjoy this "sport" arent suddenly going to change - you hve to be pretty barbaric to enjoy any fight to the death type of sport be it animal or anything else.

Just makes me really angry.

Angrier still that they are deemed not rehomeable. HOwever having said that, if the difficulty we have in rehoming staffies to the right homes, is any reflection then I think it would be extremely difficult to find the best homes and owners for these dogs thus is it better they are PTS free of pain or sit in a kennels for the rest of their life.

Very sad all round really.

i know what I would like to do to these people.

I don't think this will make the national news (sadly) so for those who aren't in Lincolnshire:-

Four jailed over dog-fighting ring
[*]Four people have been jailed for their part in one of Europe's largest dog-fighting syndicates. Skip related content[/LIST]Claire Parker, 44, who was convicted earlier this month of holding dog-fights at her home in Lincolnshire, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.
Three co-defendants were jailed at Lincoln Magistrates' Court for between 23 and the maximum 26 weeks for the animal cruelty offences.
The jury was told the ring was smashed following an investigation by the BBC's Panorama programme.
District judge Richard Blake said: "There's widespread public objection at these sorts of offences of the sadistic abuse of animals for entertainment. The dogs in this case are not in any way pets - they are animals used for sadistic entertainment and perverted pleasure."
Parker was banned from keeping animals for 10 years. The court found that the syndicate had links to a gang in Northern Ireland, with paramilitary connections, who supplied illegal American pit bull dogs. Members of the ring attended fights as far away as Finland.
Parker, of Kexby Lane, Kexby, Lincolnshire, a mother of three young children, was found guilty of holding a fight in the garage at her home, which she shared with her husband, John Parker. He has since died in prison. She was found guilty of being present at a dog-fight, keeping a premises for dog-fighting and possessing three pit bull dogs. She denied all the charges.
Gary Adamson, 38, of Ramsey Crescent, Yarm, North Yorkshire, who pleaded guilty to six charges in connection with illegal dog-fighting, was given 23 weeks in prison. Mohammed Farooq, 33, of Daniels Road, Bordesley Green, Birmingham, who was found guilty on two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and possessing training equipment for dog-fighting, was sentenced to the maximum penalty of 26 weeks.
Owen Batey, 40, of Cannock Road, Middlesbrough, was given 23 weeks in jail, having admitted setting two pit bulls on each other, being present at a dog-fight and owning a pit bull. Christopher Burgess, 42, of Longstone Way, Ladybrook, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, who pleaded guilty to one charge of keeping a banned dog, received 160 hours of community service. Both Adamson and Batey were banned from keeping animals for life.
Another member of the ring, Kenneth King, had been due to be sentenced but had to be taken to hospital after a fight broke out inside the court building earlier on Friday. He suffered a number of injuries to his head and was left with a bleeding ear after the trouble flared. Burgess had to be restrained by officers during the scuffle and was tasered. But he returned to court to receive his community punishment. King, 35, of Main Street, Ragnall, Newark, Nottinghamshire, will be sentenced next Wednesday for eight charges related to fighting banned pit bull terriers which he had earlier admitted.

most got prison terms - unfortunately the maximum for this offence is only 6 months

They've been banned from keeping dogs as well (some life bans, some not)...but whether anyone would every check up on this...I bet not.
