No puppies for me.

Woe is me. Took Millie for a scan today and no puppies
I was quite surprised as she had 8 the first time and 10 the second so I guess I just took it for granted that she would be!
We used a different dog this time to the first 2 litters, maybe she didn't like him???
Anyway, never mind, fingers crossed for next time. She comes in every 5 months so won't have to wait too long!!
Actually. it's the first time ever I have mated a bitch and she has not taken, no wonder I was shocked!

Sorry to hear that, is the vet 100% sure she's not? Do you have to go back for another scan just to confirm?

Yeah, we're 99.99999% sure. She would have been 36 days so the whelps would have been very visible, lots of bone and wriggles.
We will wait til she comes in again, not long as she is a 5 monther, and have a swab done to check for the possibility of a mild vaginal bacteria that could have killed his sperm off.
The dog was a maiden so who knows? But, he will have had 2 more bitches by the time Millie comes in again so we'll know by then if there is a problem.
Anyway, in the grand scheme of things, it is no big deal.Worse things happened yesterday to others. So, I feel blessed really and am grateful for what I HAVE got.
