Bronx - Rhodesian Ridgeback

Bronx is a 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback and is currently on foster in Merthyr Tidfil.

The Bronx Fact File
Dog status: Good, can be nervy at first
Cat status: Unknown
Child status: Good but he is not a confident dog at the moment and may not appreciate the hustle and bustle young children bring. Could be rehomed with children aged 10 years plus
House training: Perfect
Home alone: Not comfortable on his own and this needs work. Not suitable for full time worker.
Basic training: Very good, needs work on his confidence and socialisation

Bronx is a sensitive and loving dog. He doesn't seem to know he has a big handsome tough guy exterior and he can lack confidence at times and be introverted. He is looking for a loving new home who will help him to socialise and allow him to blossom. It will be very rewarding for his new owners. He has settled in well to his foster home and is living nicely with his canine foster brother. When he first meets a new dog he can be nervy and will sometime hide behind his foster mum's legs! (Little does he realise he is huge and everyone can still see him!). He has never shown any aggression and will play nicely once he has relaxed in a dogs company. This will mean introductions to any existing dogs in a household considering adopting him would need to be done carefully. He would be best suited to larger companions as he may be too much for small or frail dogs when playing.

Bronx is not comfortable being left for long periods and will not be rehomed to full time workers. He would ideally like a new home where someone is around for the best part of the day or where he can attend work with his owner. He has been left for up to two hours by his foster home and this would need to be gradually built on as a foundation. Bronx is intelligent and knows how to open doors so he will need a secure house and garden with fencing over 5 feet.

He has not been tested with cats and has not lived with cats as far as we know. He has been in foster with rabbits who he was interested in at first but he has learnt to ignore them.

Bronx has been socialised with children in his previous home and is gentle and well mannered with them. However, he does like the quiet life and has been living in an adult only foster home. We feel he would be overwhelmed to live with young children full time. Therefore we will be looking for a new home with children over the age of 10 years.

Bronx loves to travel in the car, he does prefer curling up on the back seat to being in the boot or crated. He likes to occasionally stick his nose out the window before going back to sleep.

He knows sit, paw and out. He has been working on his recall with his foster family when he is off the lead. Walking on a lead has needed a bit of work and he is now walked on a harness as his neck is wider than his head meaning he can back out of a collar if he is spooked by something. He has good manners in the house and is not food or toy possessive. He will need further training to build his confidence and socialise him with other dogs.

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
