Jess

I took in an abandoned dog on Friday 13th April (for her I hope that the date is lucky)
This is her on the day we got her.

Her name is Jess and she is 8 years old.

She is lovely and her nature is very friendly. She loves to play and likes lots of cuddles. She was a bit disorientated at first but very quickly has found her niche and is now happy and contented here and is loving all of the walks and attention that she is getting.

This picture was taken today.

I think that I am the lucky one getting her as she has added so much already to our household, I am loving the walks, the morning greetings and the company that she gives, I think that we are going to be very happy together.

I think she is a cross black labrador.

I am taking her to the vet today for a health check because I really do not know anything about her, she is very stiff when she gets up from resting but that soon wears off.

When I contacted the previous owners by ringing the number on her collar (a mobile number) they told me that she didnt live there anymore and to do them a favour and dont ring back. It is really strange because she is a lovely dog. She will sit and is good on a lead and loves other dogs and children, she is very clean. She has at one time had a good home but seems like the one she had last was one where she wasnt wanted but they wont tell me why. I have reported having her here to the police just in case.

Here's to you and Jess having many happy years together.

Sadly (and I will never understand how their owners can do it), many older dogs end up being chucked out because they need a bit more care & attention (and possibly vets bills) than they did when they were younger. My own Kip was exactly the same - such a sweet dog, but getting on a bit and no longer wanted by his previous owner.

All I can say is that if Jess gives you half the pleasure Kip has given me, you will be a very happy person .

Thank you veryone for your comments, it is lovely to be able to talk about her.

I took Jess to the vet today, she has been given Glucosamine HCI 1000mg per day for 6 weeks and then 500mg per day after that.

I also have been recommended to use JD specialist complete food as it has something in it to help rhumetism.

Apart from her being a bit stiff when she gets up from resting (which goes off when she starts walking around) she got a clean bill of health and is a good weight and seems very well. I am really pleased. The more I learn about her the more I grow to love her.

I cant imagine not having her now and it has only been a few days.
