just reading in my paper in Herts a litter of 20 pups have been born!!

it is a cross........between a American bulldog & a dog de bordeaux

she is going to sell them for.......£1,000 EACH

they said she is in for a 'nice bonus'

How on earth & why on earth is she selling them for 1k EACH?!?

20 mongrels....... let's face it, they're nothing else, are they?

A grand apiece - sounds like a BYB just on the take to me - sadly

I don't expect much cost went into health testing for the mating and sadly, don't expect much will go into rearing

So yes, looks like she'll be making a nice profit. Good job it got to the paper though, she may not be so happy when she realises they're taxable!

That poor dog as well having to carry and whelp 20 BIG puppies! (Not that that's anyone's fault of course)

EDIT: I know I'm making a sweeping statement, I know someone who recently bred a litter from a golden retriever and a poodle and was wanting £900 a pup which I totally disagree with HOWEVER, mum and pups did get all the care they needed and then some, and health checks were done on both parents.

20 is not the biggest litter of puppies. 24 mastiffs born, but only 20 survived, see the link below:

Well lets hope , as she has made it public, and has announced the price of the pups, she gets the tax man after her.

And of course the breeder will probably do that mating again and again hoping for the same big fat `bonus`, and what`s the betting a selling point of the litter will be that they would probably throw big litters too making bonus`s for their owners too, but neglecting to mention that they are crossbreeds, not likely to happen that big again, parentages would be different for future matings, thereby making them mongrels / bitza`s, and health testing is pointless anyway when very different breeds are thrown together so standard tests, ie hips, mean nothing as the builds of the crossbreed pups could be anything and there could be any kind of new health issue caused to develop etc etc.

Any one wonder why there is a designer dog trade when there are such charlatans around and people naive enough to pay the big money when falling for the designer clap trap ?

Now if the breeder said it was an accidental litter and any money left over from vet care, rearing the litter, and spaying the dam, would go to animal charity and that it will be a condition of sale that neuter of all the pups is a must or pups will be reclaimed, and that there will be life time after care so none of them ever end up in rescue along with all the other crossbreeds, s/he might redeem herself a bit...

Wonder how s/he will cope if all 20 ended up being sent back for one reason or another...

But they won't end up being sent back to the breeder, will they? They'll end up in rescue....
