Crufts TV Schedule

CRUFTS BROADCAST ON SCHEDULE TO FETCH NEW AUDIENCE
The BBC has announced changes to its usual BBC2 programming schedule for Crufts 2008. In an effort to attract a broader audience, the BBC is introducing a new Sunday teatime programme during the show, which will feature more coverage of disciplines like Agility and Flyball.

The schedule for the Crufts programmes to be broadcast on BBC2 is as follows:

Thursday 6th March 20:00 - 21:00
Interactive programme 21:00 - 22:00

Friday 7th March 20:00 - 21:00
Interactive programme 21:00 - 22:00

Saturday 8th March 20:00 - 21:00
Interactive programme 21:00 - 22:00

Sunday 9th March 17:00 - 18:00 - NEW
19:00 - 21:00 Best in Show
Interactive programme 21:00 - 22:00

The schedule does not include a preview programme as in previous years; replacing it with a new hour long show on Sunday evening during the event, which will be targeted as family-friendly, teatime entertainment. This new show will be presented by Ben Fogle and Matt Baker, with Clare Balding leading the main coverage later that evening.

This new programme will feature the best of the other disciplines showcased at Crufts 2008 and will focus on Agility, Heelwork to Music, Flyball and Obedience, as well as highlights from the Young Kennel Club ring. In addition to the action, Ben and Matt will be hosting an interactive element live in Hall 3 of the NEC, which will have experts on hand to answer questions posed by visitors to the show and users of the BBC website.

This year’s BBC team will be led by Clare Balding, ably assisted by Ben Fogle, Matt Baker, Peter Purves, Jessica Holm, Frank Kane and Wayne Cavanaugh.

In the run up to the show, Crufts will also be featured on the BBC One’s ‘The One Show’ on Wednesday 5th March. This programme will include a live link up with Clare Balding at the NEC during the final build up.

Said Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, “We are proud of how popular Crufts is with the BBC audience, with over 14million viewers watching the programme over the course of the show last year.

“The schedule will provide a wonderful showcase for disciplines such as Agility, Flyball, Heelwork to Music, Obedience and the Young Kennel Club, alongside the ever-popular coverage of breed showing, and we hope that it will appeal to both old and new viewers alike. We are also looking forward to spreading the Crufts message out yet further through the highly acclaimed One Show.”
