OH in the "dog" house

I am livid! we were talking about Ana's training he said " I dont want to take her to any classes" i asked why and he said " because you are a controll freak with meg and i dont want u being the same with Ana"
I told him i am not a control freak i just like to know i can trust my dogs when we are out around people and other dogs. Should i take Ana to puppy classes?

Of course! Doesn't mean you are a control freak it means you are being responsible for the welfare of your dog!

Hi,
I have this problem with my OH, I'm always trying to enforce the 'rules'-no jumping up etc but he doesn't care! I want, like you to be able to take my dog everywhere with me (when possible) and know that she will behave herself!
I think that, if you will be the main care-giver, you take her to classes, if it's what you want to do. Apart from helping with training it will also provide an opportunity for socialisation. She's going to grow into a big girlie! V cute by the way.

I suggested that as last time we had trouble with meg ignoring him as he never did training with her but he said no!! I told him there is no way either of us will be able to control her when she is fully grown as she is going to be a big dog. He is just a stubborn twit!

I would definetely train her - a dog that is obedient is happier than the non obedient one because you can trust it more. and you don't have trouble to unleash the dog where it is apropriate if you know it and know you can trust. Such dog won't be a nuisance because it will do what you tell him to.
in the end both of you will be happier...

I mean - you can always get a cat if you want to be a servant

I would def take her to classes, it lets dogs socialise with other dogs and teaches them to behave.

Definately take her, from puppy class to whatever level you want to, there's nothing nicer than seeing a well behaved, well trained dog when you're out, especially one who does it because they want to and not because they're frightened what will happen if they don't.

Can only echo what everyone else has said, that she needs to go to training.

Could you both go with her and one work her one week and one the next week so she learns to listen to both of you? That's what Dave & I used to do with Max.
