Healthy good Dog bones (Rawhides)?

I was wondering what are some decent Rawhides for dogs. My lab loves chewing on bones but I don't like those bones that are sharp and she could choke on them. So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on some good dog bones or Rawhides for my Lab??

Erm well my Dobermann likes the flat bone shaped ones from Pets at home, they are 99p and takes her a couple of days to get through

Failing that we have now started to get bones from the butcher (knuckle bones I think they are called - HUGE ) and she seems to love them

I use nylabones for my dogs to chew, rawhide nearly killed one of my dogs as he tried to swallow it whole and it goes very slimey too.

I don't like rawhide

I am far happier feeding my dogs huge marrow bones from the butchers.

My Cavaliers used to have rewhide untill one of them tried to swollow a large bit that hed been chewing for ages so yes it was nice and soggy but far to big for him to swollow, I ended up fishing it out of his mouth and from down his throat. Never again.

Both my dogs chew on recreational bones and also have a regular supply of bone in their diet whether it be chicken wings, necks, carcass etc. The only ever problem i have had is with rawhide chews. When our American Bulldog was younger he was given one of those knotted raw hide bones and he was happily chewing away until it went into a soggy mess then he tried to swallow it, only for it to get stuck in his throat. Now if this had happened with a chicken carcass etc he would easily bring it back up [and has done] but due to the rawhide turning into a soggy mess it got stuck to his throat lining and he could not regurgitate it. Luckily i was on hand to put my hand down his throat and grap hold of it. This was a big lesson for me and needless to say he will never have rawhide treats again as this could have turned out fatal....Cheers..Ian..

Hmmm...Nylabone I'll give them a try. Pick one up today so we'll see how she likes that. I just don't want any bones or rawhides that shes going to choke on or that are going to cut her throat or anything. That scares me! And of course I want something healthy.
So thanks Becky I'll go with your advice with the Nylabones and see how that goes!

Hollie has the cigar shaped rawhide, flat or bone shaped. Choked on a knot off one once, had to fish it out her throat.

She likes raw bones, but we found a problem - if say, she had a bone on Monday, she would poo inside during Tuesday night so we would find it Wednesday morning.
