Ruffus needs healing vibes

I noticed he was off-colour last Wednesday - not eating and very listless- so on the Thursday we took him to the vet. She diagnosed spondylitis, and also pointed out that he had a very loose tooth, and that his hips were bad, but this was to be expected considering his age. She also recommended a blood test to try to identify any other problems, but as the bank holiday was coming up, we had to wait until this week.
Meanwhile, I started trying to find out what may be wrong, and on the internet found the symptoms of liver failure, a lot of which Ruffus seemed to have. He had the blood test on Wednesday, and yesterday the results came back, confirming my thoughts. He's on steroids to make him eat, and antibiotics. The vet has said that if there's no improvement by Monday, there is nothing they can do. He's eaten a bit today (a few biscuits and a bit of cooked chicken) but is still very subdued, and lethargic.

Hi IzzaFred sorry to hear about Ruffus ..hope he improves with the medication. If you are not already doing so It may help to feed a number of small tasty meals instead of the usual ones, white fish is good also porridge and a little honey dissolved in warm water can help too..it gives energy.

He was put to sleep this morning
He was 14 years old, but I only had him for 4 years and I wish we could have had longer together...
