Gestation term?

Hi, I understand that a dog is pregnant for 12 wks, but if they go longer, what is a common length of time.
The dog in question is a Labrador if that makes any difference.
Hope this makes sense, its just that I'm waiting for news of the litter my new pup is to be from and don't want to keep buggin the breeder.

Normal gestation period for a dog is 63 days, but some will whelp early and some late, but usually only by a day or two. If the bitch was mated twice (quite usual) its a matter of guessing which mating 'took' and therefore quite when to expect the pups. If you know when the bitch was mated you can give the breeder a call. Some Breeders don't like to announce the arrival of the pups until they have their eyes open,and are getting up on their feet and are obviously all O.K. Kath

After I'd picked my Kali (or, more accurately, been picked by him ) at three weeks old, I must have been on the phone just about every day! But I wasn't as bad as the friend who picked brother Merlin - she nearly moved in!

Well skjerstad, as Kath says, it's an average of 63 days, which is 9 weeks. So Look on the bright side, it's not as long to wait as you thought.

12 weeks , well that will be why I don't even think about breeding!!!!
Can do cows and sheep and even the occasional kittens but deff not
dogletts. Will be good and wait, whilst hopping from foot to foot, for
any news then. Let you all know as soon as I do.
