Compensayshun cultcha / compensation culture (litigious society)

GRRRRRRRRR!

I know there are a few skaters in our midst. Anyone else found this?

I posted on a skater forum asking if there were any indoor parks in my area (Midlands sort of...) to find out what I'd feared! They're all closing! the two nearest me are gone, those being Radlands in Northampton, apparently the oldest in the country. Also gone are The Edge in Leicester and Storm in Derby.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, I know why too! Insurance costs. What if little Johnny gets run over by a BMX rider not looking where they're going? The park could get sued for big bucks! Damnit!

Ah well, time to reclaim the streets. Except I wanted somewhere reasonably warm and dry to skate!

Hear hear!

Another reason why I left the UK......... it's all gone mad
Rural Ireland is very much like Britain in the 1950's...... suits me fine! (recovered from two serious accidents without the need for "counselling" or any other such nonsense - my dogs cheered me up! )

And also a clause whereby if you cut someone up, you can expect a board across the back of your legs! Especially if you were riding a BMX or inline skates at the time!

Update! I do believe the one in Leicester has re-opened under new management! :smt023
