Nia

Hi! I am new to this forum and im finding it quite interesting!
I have a question. My dog is 6 weeks into pregnancy. she's about 2 1/2. We've set up her whelping area but we have 2 other dogs as well. One is 6 months and the other is 3 years ld. The smaller one keeps coming in her whelping area. How do i get my female to get used to her area and should I keep the little one away?

Maybe if you post in the Dog Breeding section you might get more help?

You need to go with the flow, she won't go into the whelping area yet anyway, you have 3 weeks to go nearly.
48 hours off she will start being interested in where to have her babies, but you may find she will choose where she wants to have them, I have had some moments with mine Also she won't let any of the others near her if she doesn't want and they will stay away as well, but she may well let one of them help her, one of mine helped deliver her sister's puppies last time, but conversely when she had her pups she wouldn't let her sister near her and just wanted me there.

I keep everywhere clean and put plastic sheeting with newspapers with old sheets on top, then keep changing the sheets and burning the newspaper as I go along
When she is done and dusted I move them to a crate with puppy pads under clean vetbed with a white sheet on the vetbed, hot water bottle wrapped in a towel under the vetbed, then I keep the sheet changed as you can see any soiling on it with it being white, and also change the vetbed and puppypads regularly, keep the crate wiped down with bio wipes. I put a board on the top of the crate and then drape blankets and old sheets over that to keep draughts out and also so no direct light can get in, I leave the front of the crate open so mum can get over to the water and puppy pads on the floor by the door if she needs to. Don't leave water near or in the crate as you would be amazed how quickly babies can move and you could have a tragedy.
That's just me though, everyone has their own way of doing things
