Glen Tanar

Has anyone ever visited/stayed or live in or near Glen Tanar in the Cairngorms/Royal Deeside?

Just looking for general dog-friendliness of the area etc.

Although, this will be for the future now, as have realised it is a bit further away than I first thought!

My sister and I are looking to go somewhere for a long weekend of walking. Probably going to look at the Trossachs for that, and Glen Tanar area for when I can sneak a week away!

its amazing, bar the odd landy and tractor, traffic free. There is some livestock, but there is lots of hills, streams, pine forests etc. Really really pretty. lots to do, easily fill a week. Breamar and Ballater (where my mum is from) nearby, which has Creagandarroch hill which is a lovely walk, if you are into visiting castles and stuff there are plenty about. I love it up there!

Thank you so much EmmiS. After your description, I might be tempted to get up earlier and go there for our short break and, if I like it, then go for a full week later on.

Any pics of the area?

Thanks again.

That would be brilliant, thank you. Of course I have done a google image search, but there is nothing like seeing "real" photos if you know what I mean!
