R Progeny not eligible for registration

Just got Hugo's KC Reg form and the endorsement was as the title says......

So, I'm guessing it means that any puppies from him cannot be advertised as KC REG. is that right?

Why would there be this endorsement as both his parents are KC Reg?

Thanks.

Because the breeder is protecting 1) her lines, 2) the breed from indiscriminant breeding.

What it means is any ofsprings from him cannot be
kC registered.

I endorse all my pups too ....it's to ensure that anything with my affix on is only bred from if it is of a certain standard both physically and mentally and has good health test results ...I do lift the endorsement if my criteria are met - of course it does not in fact prevent people from breeding - it simply means that they can't KC register any pups without my permission.

Endorsing pups is common practise for most good breeders.

I am sure the breeder discussed this with you? They are REQUIRED to and you both should have signed a contract which documents the fact that you were apprised of this by the breeder and you agreed to it.

Without this, the breeder CANNOT ENFORCE this endorsement and the KC can lift it.

Breeders do this for several reasons, often endorsements will be lifted by the breeder provided certain criteria are met.

Eg the dog meets the breed standard and subject to satisfactory health tests

The rules around endorsements are laid out here:

That would not be very responsible as the breder could not register the puppies. You should have known about the endorsements when you bought the puppy. Speak to your breeder and if you have any questions Im sure they will answer them. They obviously didnt want people buying and breeding from their stock without their knowledge.

As SB says breeders will usually lift the endorsements if certain requirements are met. With my dog, he would need health certs and is required to have reached a certain standard of training.

Maybe phone your breeder and have a chat?

Anyone can put their dog up for stud.

Ultimately it is the owner of the bitches that decide whether a dog is used or not.

Any reputable breeder would not use your dog as

a) he was not KC registered (anybody can find out whether any dog is KC registered or not using the on line tool of the KC)

b) he could not have proved his worth in a breed ring.

etc

So the only people likely to use your dog are those that do not care about eh breed.
