Fire at the Yorkshire Showground Today!
We were at the National Pony Society Summer Show with 3 ponies today. We were just stood around in the collecting ring waiting for our Judge to appear when a call was put out over the tannoy asking for people parked near the catering vans to move their cars. I just thought they weren't allowed to park there!
Then I saw the smoke! Thick black smoke was pouring from the burger van and then we could see the flames!! Biggest fire I've ever seen!
Luckily we were on the other side of the arena from the vans, but we held onto the ponies tight in case of more explosions, we didn't hear the 1st two!!
The emergency services were amazing, we heard their sirens long before they turned up, but they turned them off well before coming near all the ponies and turned up minutes after the blaze started.
All the show staff were really good as well, they got everyone out the ring and made sure everyone was safe until the fire service arrived.
Here's an article I found with pictures.
