Metacam Question

Hi I really need some advice My 14 month old neo mastiff was playing with my friends dog on Tuesday and he slipped in the mud limped slightly then went back to playing, Wednesday morning he had developed a slight limp he can still put weight on his leg, Friday it seemed a lot better but he was very giddy and playful we try to keep him calm but he wants to play but now the limp is getting worse again.
I rang my vets today they said keep him confined to a small space and when he goes outside in garden allow him 10 minutes at a time if it gets worse by Monday bring him in, well my question is my other mastiff who is 5 years old was recently prescribed metacam and I was wondering could I give my 14 month neo some to ease the pain or would you wait to see a vet My husband wants to give him some but I am too scared to give him something the vet didn't prescribe,

I Suffer from anxiety issues, and I keep thinking if I give him the metacam with it being a weekend and he has a bad reaction it would be hard to get to emergency vets with him I'm such a worry wart and I also don't want t feel like I could stop his pain and haven't and that's the biggest issue I'm not sure how much I should give him, he is still eating and wants to run about and play,

I'd leave it---he'll be quieter if it hurts and it isn't for long.

you know your own dog if you think he is in pain I would give him some. What I have done with my guys in the past if they have hurt themselfs in the evening or after closeing time of vets on a Sat [ more so with the pups] is just give border line dose so it takes the ruff edge of pain away but not fully so they will be a bit quiteter and then if needed get them to the vets on opening times. Know it hard with a young dog but you have to keep them on a lead restrict his walks and LOTS &LOTS of REST

Personally, I would NEVER self diagnose nor prescribe meds for another dog.
