9 months old- What can they do???

OH and I have booked our first holiday in god knows how many years, we're going to Cornwall for a (very) long weekend and we're planning on taking the dog with us.

We're going for OH's birthday so puppy will be 9 months old by then.

How much should we let him do at that age?

Is it pointless to take a dog that young on holiday or is 9 months an ok age for a youngster to have an exciting week? OH and I for one reason and another have put off going away together for the past two years so I'm really looking forward to it and I don't want to leave the little one behind (god knows it's taken years for OH to pursuade me to leave the horse behind!)

I'm busy googling dog friendly beaches already

I would say that at 9 months a border terrier would be able to cope with a hoilday and a fair few walks. With larger breeds its more important to wait until 12 months but even then its just a case of being sensible rather then never going on hoilday.

We went to the Brecons when Ela was 6 months old and just kept to the flat parkland near the hotel and made sure to not over exercise her. She enjoyed her time away with us!

Personally, I think that as long are you are sensible and don't attempt to hike up a mountain or anything I don't see the problem.

Of course it is perfectly fine to go on holiday with a dog of ANY age, I have!

You will no doubt curb your enthusiasm for competing the Coastal Walk(s), bungee jumping etc.

I have gone away with puppies MUCH younger than this.

Enjoy

should be fine, small breeds mature a lot quicker than big breeds, Don't go mad/go out for 10 hour walks, but trips to the beach etc should be more than ok

Yay!

Copper is gorgeous, although should they be out on the water and rowing at such a young age ?

Right, more googling of dog friendly things to do in Cornwall!
