Short haired dogs - what do you use to groom yours?

Hello all,

Just curious more than anything else....

What grooming tools do you use to groom your short haired dogs? By that I mean short haired Collies, JRTs etc, not Whippets and Greyhounds! Specifically dogs with a lighter undercoat - or different coloured undercoat - to their top coat.

What do use to get rid of 'loose' coat and undercoat?

Thanks.

I have a plastic pin brush which has a layer of soft bristles underneath for daily use, and a Furminator type brush every once in a while to get out the undercoat

I use a Furminator when he's shedding heavily. I have a Mikki brush with a slicker on one side and soft bristles on the other for daily grooming. I use the slicker to pull out the under hair first then goes over with the soft brush after to brush the top hair.

I use a rubber brush on the Boxers... like a horse curry comb.... it does work and pulls quite a lot of hair out....

Slicker and then a rub down with Chamois leather, the latter is very good for getting loose hair out and gives the coat a nice shine

If shedding hair heavily, a bath will help loosen the hair and wash it out

Was on my phone before so couldn't find a link, but the first brush is like this, but it has a layer of soft bristles underneath too

I don't use the Furminator (well, Mikki's version) that often but round about now when Kiki's started moulting her winter coat, it is very handy!

a zoom groom, it's made of rubber, so the static helps attract the hairs as you're brushing. the rubber teeth also give a good massage.

trip was very suspicious of brushes when we got her, i think because the zoom groom felt more like a massage than a 'grooming' session.

First a rubber brush like a small scrubbing brush with rubber teeth to rid of excess hair.
Second a soft bristle brush to brush out loose hair.
Third a pair of cotton gloves to smooth over coat.

Shorthaired pointers don`t really need grooming but Shamus always insists on his turn when I brush the shepherds.
Apart from that - stroking seems to do the trick. He`s very shiny.
