Your thoughts on Virtual Show Rules

OK, so I'm having a bit of a dilema about which dogs should be allowed to be entered in the virtual show.

Strictly speaking the rules state that it is only dogs actually owned by Dogsey members. But I know that the rules have previously been bent and I've had a few entries recently where I've found it hard to know where to draw the line.

Ultimately as show organiser, I know the decision will fall to me, but I'd like your thought as to whether:

1. Only dogs owned by a dogsey member should be allowed.

OR
2. Other dogs can be allowed (then please choose from the following options below - multiple choice allowed)
  • Dogs belonging to members' close family should also be allowed (e.g. your parents/sisters/brothers etc dogs)
  • Dog relatives of Dogsey members dogs should also be allowed (e.g. litter mates, dam, sire etc)
  • Any dog can be entered provided the member has permission to post the photo
  • Dogs not owned by Dogsey members should only allowed in multi-dog classes when together with a dogsey member's dog.
  • Other (please state in your post)

(In all cases where the dog isn't owned by a dogsey member, the owner's consent would be needed)

A hard one, but to be honest as you have already found out, if you allow the rules to be stretched, they get stretched even more.

So my opinion would be £only dogs owned by members of Dogsey" will be allowed in the competition.

Otherside the margins get bigger and bigger , putting you into a situation as beign amenable to all.

I choose other dogs only in multi dog photo's, as some only have one dog and they might have a regular visiting dog or a family dog over, and so they can enter I would think it would be okay (IMO of course).
As JB said need to stick to the rules otherwise it could go pear shaped or why for one and not for another.
I don't envy your job though, and while I am at it you are doing a brilliant job

I think if people want to enter their dog they should join the forum. It`s free after all.
I suppose you could always run a class for `My Dog`s Best Friend` if people really wanted to enter other people`s dogs.

just dogsey members IMO too and ones that have been here a bit longer than just signing up and posting 1 pic in the competitions.
as Claire said there could always do a
'your best friends dog'/'your dogs best friend' comp if you get what I mean

I have voted for other dogs along side Dogsey members dogs.

Often people meet up with friends who maybe are not on Dogsey - or have visitors staying. Seems OK to me as long as the dog is with a dogsey dog.

I have picked close family members dogs as well. This is because we have Kiska who was my dog but now lives in the family home. If it was dogsey dogs only i wouldnt be able to enter her in anything, i am guessing others may be in a similar position.

Can I make a suggestion.

It seems that the majority want members dogs only---which is fine.

Could a couple of classes be added which could include other dogs---or even be specifically for dogs NOT belonging to members.

EG----best non dogsey bitch etc.
