Improvement in training

Had a bit of a break through in training yesterday evening - when I was out in the field with the dogs and my OH a group of horses came up behind us well I managed to get Jack into a down and he stayed without any fuss - whoohoo - big improvement - I know if he had been off lead he would have chased but starting with small steps I'm pretty sure he will get there

Barney wasn't so good though he barked continusly (sp?) and I had forgotten to bring his toy for distractions so that was my fault but he did sit and stay just made a noise

Luckily these horses are so well behaved and the people that ride them are really nice and understanding - that helps so much - one day we will get there

Well done. It is a good feeling when you see the training start to pay off isn't it? Having the patience to appreciate the one-step-at-a-time improvement is not easy for some people, but it does pay big dividends eventually.

definately and its much less stressful as well rather than trying too much at once - I'm finding if I write down all the baby steps that it will take to get to the final desired behaviour then it should be easier for both of us - thats the plan any way!
