The baking tray works!

If you read about Star's bloat scare you will have read that her vet advised I use a baking tray to feed her from as the larger, flat surface would slow her down. So I got her this tray, well it's more a flan tray but still, she is usually first finished with Maddy shortly behind, and now Maddy finished first and Star has about 1/4 of her food left. So that's how much it's slowed her down, about 1/4 (both her and Maddy eat the exact same amount).

So on the shopping list is another tray for Maddy and the other 2 don't eat too fast so they are ok with their normal bowls.

Just thought some of you might be interested.

I've heard that spreading the kibble over the floor works as well.

Glad it has worked though

Well done Kel, that's a brill idea, I might try that one myself with Georgie, coz at the moment he has to have his food on a dinner plate, coz if I put it in a bowl, it's just "gone" in 2 seconds flat I tried putting a mug in there in the middle, but the clattering around put Zena off her food (she eats next to him). I never thought of using something ever bigger, but I'll definitely be trying a baking tray tomorrow! Good luck with Star, I hope it never scares you like that again.

Glad Star is doing well.

Thanks for the tip about the baking tray. Joey tends to scoff his food down in about 5 seconds so might have to try it with him!

I bought Eddie a baking tray at the weekend after reading what your vet advised. As he has wet food I pressed it down hard with the back of a spoon also, so it took a bit longer for him to get at. It took him longer to eat it so I am sticking with it.

Yes Kel, I'm very interested and the fact that you 'proved' it slowed them down is good enough for me. I might make a couple out of some aluminion sheet I've got since I've now been told the 'raised bowl' thing is not a good idea.
