Cody - Lurcher

Cody is a 9 month old lurcher and is currently on foster in Cardiff.

The Cody Fact File
Dog status: Very good
Cat status: Unknown
Child status: Could be rehomed with children aged 8 years plus who are used to large dogs
House training: Nearly there
Home alone: Happy for short periods, would not suit a full time worker
Basic training: Knows sit, down, paw and stay, has very good recall

Lets think of the check list for the perfect dog and see how Cody might fare,
Ok so we might want a dog who is good looking - check
Intelligent - check
Walks nicely on the lead - check
Good recall off the lead - check
Social with people - check
Friendly with other dogs - check
Fun loving - check

All looking very good so far! Maybe Cody is a contender for the perfect dog.

Who....me?

Cody is very well socialised and good with other dogs. He has been living with another dog in his foster home and has settled in very well with her. He is good with dogs he meets out on walks, very playful and keen to say hello. He could be rehomed with canine company or as a single dog if he had plenty of company and mental stimulation.

Cody adores people and is very friendly with everyone including the vet. He has been good wqith children he has met but is living in an adult only foster home so has not been assessed with young children over extending periods. He can have bouncy moments when he will jump up so he could be rehomed with children over the age of 8 years who are used to large dogs.

He has not been assessed with cats but due to his breed type great care would have to be taken rehoming him with cats.

Cody is an intelligent dog and a fast learner. He has already learnt sit, paw, down, stay and to come back when called meaning he can have a good run off the lead in safe areas. He would love further training and will need plenty to keep him entertained and keep him out of trouble.

He has only been with his foster family for a couple of weeks and they have been building up his time left alone gradually. He has been left for up to three hours but he does like a lot of human company. He would not be suitable for a full time worker even with a break in the middle of the day. He has always been left with another dog for company in his foster home meaning care may have to be taken if he is rehomed as a single dog to gradually build his time alone again

All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
