Cleaning/deodorising tips

Hi All,

Can anyone advise the best way to clean/disinfect/deodorise dog kennels/toilet areas? There are lots of expensive products on the market but I am wondering if there is an easier, cheaper alternative or perhaps a "home remedy"?

The solution would obviously need to be "pet-safe". It would be used to wash down kennel floor and concrete patio area used for dog's tolieting

Thanks

Bio washing liquid is the cheapest and the best thing to use. It breaks down the enzymes in urine that causes the smell. Washing down with disinfectant alone does not get rid of the enzymes.

My kennels have double wooden floors with insulation in between. I then have stable rubber matting down with shavings on top of that. It is very easy and quick to remove any wet/dirtyshavings and then you can put all the dry stuff in a bin bag and mop the matting to keep it clean.
I use bleach outside along with Jeyes. Also I rinse out gel bio washing bottles into the water and that makes it smell nice.

OP did not mention septic tanks and unless she has comercial kennels it is unlikely that she has mains drainage from the kennels to a septic tank.

Once you have left the bio liquid (I use Persil cos it smells nice!) for 30mins or so when you rinse it off you can use Zoflora, just make up a solution in a mop bucket and throw down. I don't bother to hose it off as it tends to sink in anyway. But if you have cats then you can't use it. You could use fabric conditioner as well but I find the smell doesn't last long.
