Congratulations, you must be thrilled after all you went through to get her mated. When are they due?

well am kind of shocked, have been trying to get her Auntie in whelp for past three years and nothing and of course she(the Auntie had pyometra a few weeks ago)this one is a more athletic type, which is not favoured in the ring, and if Auntie Rilla had produced,Mellow would not have been bred, even though she has a hip score of four in total and 0-0 elbows,I have done a fairly tight linebreeding on this, and hopefully she will produce much heavier bone, and better heads,am really very excited about it all now,the sire to the pups is her half brother, and once again, you guys never make me feel as if I should not mention it,you are all so very kind, thank you
oh yes and they are due on 26 September,
Wendy

There is often a lot of speculation about people breeding too closely.

When I bred my bitch which produced Bradley I did a half brother/half sister mating. They had the same mother but the fathers were totally different lines. I think it is fine to do this so long as you know what you are doing, I took lots of advice before I went down this route and was absolutely thrilled with the results (you know how gorgeous I think my Bradders is ).

So long as you are not doubling up on any lines that carry known problems I think you will be pleased with the resulting pups, its what line breeding is all about, using the best lines you can and strengthening the bloodlines.

I'm also very excited for you and can't wait to hear all about the babies once they arrive
