Rspca

On my walk with the Gingers this morning I came across a badly injured fox. The poor thing had obviously been in a RTA and could not stand. I suspect spinal damage. It was soaked through so I suspected it had been there a while.

He/she was obviously in a lot of distress, panting and trying desperately to rise and then falling down again. Horrific and very upsetting to see.....

I called the RSPCA before 9am and after going through the rigmarole eventually got to speak to someone who said they would send a team round to sort it out. I didn't expect the fox to survive, but didn't want it to suffer any more than it already was.

I then went out.

I've just come back FIVE HOURS LATER and have been to see if it had gone.

To my horror, the poor thing had dragged itself a few yards, trailing blood, and had then disgorged about a pint of blood and died.

To say I am distraught is an understatement. If I had possessed a gun, I would have shot it myself. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain it was in....

I've called the RSPCA again, and after going through the rigmarole once more, given them a piece of my mind.

I used to support the RSPCA, and may have re-supported them, had they bothered to attend.

No chance of that now.....

Run free dear, sweet fox...... no more pain now love xx

You are better off ringing up your local wildlife rescue centre than the RSPCA

Poor fox.

As SB said local wildlife centre will probably be better bet for next time you come across something similar. I have given up with our RSPCA.

I've tried googling to find our local wildlife centre, but it's a minefield.....

Vets have a duty of care to injured wildlife - if it happens again, call a vet? I wouldn`t bother with the council or RSPCA - too beaurocratic to move swiftly.
