Poppy - good news (Liver & kidneys fine)

A bit of good news about Poppy for a change. She had her vets appointment last night to see if she needed to go on valium for her shakes (she is 13 with a bad heart and is also on steroids).

The vet suggested leaving this for a while (we will use it when/if deterioration kicks in) and that she needed to have her blood tests anyway to check that liver/kidneys were ok. If not, then she could not have the anti-convulsive (sp??) treatment ever.

The blood tests came back today (really quick!) and her liver/kidneys are fine! There is some negative 'count' but the vet said that it is normal given the drugs she is on. So we're just going to potter on as we are for now The vet even said that she was surprised but very pleased

Great news, what a relief, it must always be a worry with an older dog. My oldest is only 9 and I am dreading what might happen as she gets older. I am sure that Polly is in the best hands....... good luck with her
