Dogsey

I have just brought my puppy cavapoo home 2 days ago . I had a lab collie cross last and she died 3 years ago . I then had a rescued house bunny and thought I would have him until I retire in 5 years. But sadly he had to be put down because of cancer. I really missed him - and decided to get a puppy earlier than I thought . I still work, but work shifts, so will be home for some of the day and my husband will be in later - so most of the time the dog will be alone for about 4 hours - worst case would be he would be alone 8 hours once a week - but i plan to either leave him with a friend or have someone come in . We are going through the settling at night phase and have been reading the debates on what to do . i have settled on shutting him in the dining room with an open crate with cosy bed in etc and news paper to wee on . his third night last night and he cried for 3 short periods at bed time and once at 3 am and then at 5.30 when I got him up .
