I have always wanted to have my own dog but for various reasons the time has never been right. However, the ideal opportunity to do so has arisen this year when my children are old enough (youngest age 4) but when I'm still at home full-time to be able to be there for a puppy. Our JR was born in mid-January to a super little mum who has a lovely temperament and we first visited her when she was two days old (when I had to choose which pup I wanted . . . how do you choose so young !!!!!) We are counting the days to when we will bring Poppy home and I'm trying to learn as much as I can beforehand. Update: very sadly the pup that we chose died at 6 weeks old due to hydrocephalus. Luckily for us the owner had kept back the other girl in the litter as she suspected that all was not right with Poppy. Our new prospective pup - Poppy's sister, Millie - is bright and boisterous and we are keeping our fingers crossed that all with be well for her.
