Dogsey

I've grown up with a succession of 4 male, rescue, German Shepherds (the first arrived when I was 5). After buying my own place I rescued a "labrador gti" (lab/collie/lurcher? X) called Poppy who was a very nervous & timid 4 month old at the time. Poppy did everything and went everywhere with me, she conquered her nerves and grew into a fantastically well behaved, friendly, old girl that could go anywhere. She adored my new husband as much as I do but sadly we lost her, aged 10, in September 2009 to liver disease. We have recently rescued Jasper, a very lively 12 month old collie X lab from the Dogs Trust in Evesham. He was described as: a livewire, having no basic training, lacks manners and often just forgets himself! How very true!! Some days he is so smart, others he is total idiot and clown. In only 3 weeks he has learnt so much and is settling in so well, were still waiting for it to all go wrong!! The funniest thing is, we have since taught him "paw" and "down". When putting his meals down, he hurls himself at the floor while waving a paw in the air, all before we have said a word to him!!! so funny!!
