Dogsey

Hi my name is Beth, I am a big dog lover! I have taught myself about dogs since I was 7 years old. I have always grown up around dogs. A lot of my family members have also owned dogs, such as Boxers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Golden Retrievers, Cross breds, Greyhounds, Toy poodles, Standard poodles (and the list goes on!) in which I had the pleasure of grooming, feeding and walking whenever we had vistited during my childhood. We have always had a dog in the family since i was born. We had a Border Collie x Springer Spaniel called Spike, who was a rescue dog. We then had a black Standard Poodle called Trixie, and then five years later a Westie called Sadie. The older I got the more involved I became with training, walking and grooming etc. However I always wanted to show dogs and I wanted to get my very own puppy. I have a few breeds I adore. My two favourite breeds are the majestic Great Dane, and the dainty Chihuahua (I know quite an extreme difference!).I also love breeds such as St Bernards, Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, Newfoundlands, Rottweilers, Papillions, Pomeranians etc. At the age of 15 I got my very own Great Dane dog, called Bailey, he was a fawn with a black mask. He meant the world to me, and he was my big baby! During the same period I was also working in a dog boarding kennel, which I worked in for just under 3 years. I wanted to show Bailey however one of his testicles didn't drop, so just after he turned one he had to be castrated :( I have a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management which I completed in 2010. After that things had turned pretty bad for my family, and we had to move into a flat, in which we had to lose both of the dogs (although they do have lovely homes now!) I really do miss them, and it still brings a tear to my eye when I remember the day that I gave my last hug of goodbye. I then worked in a dog grooming salon for a year and a half which has given me even more experience in handling different dog breeds, and dogs of all ages, personalities and disabilites. I groomed dogs as a part of their monthly maintenance, gave puppies their first bath, and even groomed dogs for crufts, all the way down to dogs that had been neglected and needed all their matted fur clipped off! I have since then been studying beauty therapy at college, and I'm in my last year now! I should be moving out soon, and to sheer excitement I will be able to get a dog again! I will be getting a Long coat Chihuahua bitch which I would like to show and will hopefully start looking just after September. One of my dreams is to hopefully go to countries like Thailand and Greece and volunteer at the dog shelters/rescues. So that is a summary about me and my love for dogs, and my experience with them :)
