Dogsey

My name is Lyka and I have lived with animals all my life. I grew up with a lovely yellow lab named Nicki who my family got as a puppy not long after I was born and who sadly was put down due to cancer at the age of 13. I believe growing up with her contributed to my love of dogs. My mother is a professional dog trainer, so I've been given the opportunity to understand much more about canine behavior and training than most do without studying it, and I'm currently studying to train as well and hopefully in the future train service dogs. Aside from Nicki I have also lived with a Cocker Spaniel/Toy Poodle/Shih Tzu mix, a purebred Cocker Spaniel, a German Shorthaired Pointer/Vizsla mix, a Border Collie/Heeler mix, and a Jack Russell Terrier/Rat Terrier mix, as well as my current dog Sky, a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who I adopted at 9 months old after he was abandoned and then rescued by a local rescue organization. Sky is my world and I couldn't imagine living without him. He's nothing but a goofy, clumsy sweetheart and even if he's a handful he's worth it. I wholehearted support adoption and rescue, positive reinforcement training, and continuing canine behavior education!
