Advice on changing from dry food to wet food.

Poppy is a small staffie when we rescued her she was about 15kg...

She now weighs 16kg just over, vet says she has gained too much weight...

We feed her 100g of Burns + a quarter of a tin of wet Butchers trip mix twice a day...

Would it be detrimental to her health if I just fed her on Butchers tripe taking note of the guidelines on the tin as to how much to give her at each meal...?

I'm thinking the burns is making her put the weight on...
Or shall I just reduce the Burns down a bit...?
She has a fair amount of exercise...
Anyone any ideas please...

Thank you...

Hello Caro if Poppy looks well on this diet and enjoys it I would be inclined to continue feeding but reduce the overall quantity

Maybe reduce the Burns to 75g at one meal and 50g the other and see how it goes.

Thanks,I'll give your suggestion a try Minihaha...

Edited...
What is your opinion in changing to a complete wet food...the Butchers tripe for instance with perhaps some cheaper biscuit mix like a little Winalot...?

We are on a basic pension, and have to watch the penny's,Burns is very expensive...! but good...

Hello Caro you could try it and see how you get on.

Mixes usually contain a lot of cereal which dogs don't really need, this is winalot ..
2. 2kg: Cereals, Derivatives of vegetable origin, Minerals, Oils and fats. With antioxidants, coloured with and preserved with EC additives.
I would rather feed a smaller amount of the food you are feeding now if it agrees with your dog particularly if your dog is already overweight..

I think Chappie food isn't that expensive and is well regarded by many .

Is chappie a dry food I can mix with the butchers trip...?

Don't like the sound of that Winalot, deff will not put her on that with her wet tripe...

I still have half a large bag of burns dry left and I have reduced that with her wet food...shall finish up the bag, then decide which dry to use...

Thanks so much for your input Minihaha,appreciated...
