I am such a cat virgin will need loads of advice. I think she ha lived in a cattery so not been out is it best to keep her as an indoors cat or would that be cruel, or are the happy living indoors?

Congratulations! It depends on how you feel about keeping her indoors really. You will need to keep her in for quite a while when you first get her to get her used to her new home and being with you. Then you could let her venture into the garden with you there, if she wants to. .......and then move on from there if you are both happy with that.

Most rescue places request that all cats are kept in at night because this, aparantly, is when they are more likely to get injured in RTA's.

My birman is mostly a house cat , though she does go out on the odd occasion but always stays near to home. I tried her on a leash when she was a kitten but she was having none of it. I never let her out late at night tho'.
I would suggest that you keep her indoors to begin with till she gets her bearings then you can try letting her out for short spells, however if she is used to the cattery she may not be interested in going outside.

Perhaps you would be better to join "Catsey" and see what folks there think.
