Re: Stud potential ?

Well I think it would probably be wise to ask someone who is familiar with the current breed standard for Inuits, to see how he fairs, and if it would be beneficial to add him to the gene pool for betterment.

I'm nt familiar with it, but a few on here are.

Re: Stud potential ?

I would imagine the first thing to do would be to contact the northern inuit society and ask about any breeding restrictions and any advice they could give you re using him as a stud dog. Then you would need to go through the hip scoring and any other relevant health checks.

Re: Stud potential ?

Well I can't comment as to whether he meets the breed standard and without knowing his health test results or going over him I cannot really comment.
Why do you think he will be a worthy stud and what faults does he have?

I couldn't really comment, as I know very little about the breed standard and what points are required, except to say I thought they had to have required markings of some sort (hence the wolf look) :smt102 but as I said I'm not really sure as I don't know the standard.

Handsome boy though

Re: Stud potential ?

I'm not that familiar with the NI standard or how he fairs with whatever health 'scores' they should have.

I can't remember whether Kain came on the walk we did as there seemed to be so many NI's that day . Wasn't he the big one that got on so well :smt062 with Skye

Either way i think he's a belter.

I think people are giving you their opinion, which is what you asked for. The NI standard (I have just looked) is very vague, but I guess I could find many NI's that fall into several categories.
1. The GSD look, like yours.
2. The Siberian Husky look.
3. The cross of them both look, which seems to be what the NI is meant to be?

I think your dog is incredibly beautiful, but IMO only he does look GSD in comparison to the NI's posted winners at the breed shows. I think its an excellent idea to get his hips done regardless of whether he is used at stud, with a new breed the more scores the better to gain an overall gauge of what the breeds average is, so on that point, well done you for helping the dogs! :smt001

Re: Stud potential ?

I too think I'm being open minded about it, but no matter what breed of dog you had, unless I knew the breed standard to a point where I knew what to generally look for, I wouldn't comment on them either.

You asked for honest opinions, and this is what you are getting.

As I said, I thought NI's needed some markings, as breeding from any dog should be to introduce better lines/genes for the breed's betterment.

To me personally, he doesn't look like most of the NI's I have seen and looking again, I agree with Dawn, he looks more like a white GSD.
