Scotland Wheres good to stay?? Ideas Please

Hi all,

I am sitting trawling through internet trying to find somewhere scenic that is dog friendly that is not totally commercial and that has a nice wee village pub or two ( I dont ask for a lot do I !!) to stay for a few days in September - probably 3 or 4 days!!

I love the west coast of Scotland and was thinking maybe ullapool area or maybe a bit further North. Been to Gairloch and Torridon already this year.

Anyone got any ideas of hotels/guest houses that fit my needs???

All ideas appreciated.

Thanks

folks up north are very hospitable, I've found. Caithness, up on the north coast is very nice, and the beaches are spotless. Bettyhill, Castletown, are both very nice.
Phone the Scottish Tourist Board for some info.

We've stayed a lot in that area and have loads saved in my favorites but they tend to be 'out the way' this is one we stayed in last year at Lochcarron with 2 dogs. There's a couple of hotel / pubs which do good food. The local shop has everything you need and if you're feeling lazy there's a little cafe / bakery about 100 yards away that does hot or cold take away food. The House front's onto the stoney beach and there's plenty of place to walk your dog within walking distance so you're not forever putting them in the car. Lot's of nice beaches withing a reasonable distance too.

Blair Atholl in Perthshire is very nice and you can walk your dog on the estate. Lovely river to swim in (dogs!) beautiful castle to visit, nice pub in village which takes dogs and give them a biscuit and water. Good grub too, and nearby Pitlochry for more dog walks and shops! There is a very nice caravan park in BA with statics which take dogs but also there are B&B, couple of hotels

As much as it pains me to say (my b/f is Scottish) but the scots are generally very dog friendly I have found, certainly a lot more so than round here.
