Woodburning /multifuel stoves

OH has bough a multifuel stove - we already have coal fires and wants to use this to burn wood and coal -he says its more economic than the open fire -Soooo whats the best way ?? do I load it up and leave it or add bits to it every so often ?

Ooooh, lucky you! Our eventual plan is to install wood-fired central heating here. Modern stoves are said to be very efficient, and very clean. Not sure about how best to stoke it though, doesn't it say in the documents that came with it?
