Complementary Vet Treatment

I've looked into this - I've found what looks like a good one but they charge around £130 for the first consultation then £64 for each subsequent one. . They charge for phone consultations too. He is a conventional vet who has gone into complementary treatments.

Is this the usual going rate for a homeopathic/herbal vet?

Also they need a referral from your own vet. Why would that be - is this usual?

If I wanted to see a herbal practitioner for myself I wouldn't have to get my GPs say so, would I? I just assumed I could take my dog to see anyone I chose. And apparently sometimes the vets refuse to refer you. What if you aren't registered with a vet?

Wow that a lot L/S

Don`t know the going rates in UK but sounds steep. Also I do know homeopayhic vets in UK need a referral from your regular vet before they`ll treat your dog. Thats professional courtesy & yes to see a h/pathic dr for yourself you need a referral from your own dr as well.

Theres a difference between herbal & h/pathy. Either way I`d want to know they were both registered woth appropriate assc

I had no idea .... think I'll become a holistic vet .

He has got: B.Vet. Med.,Vet.M.F.Hom., M.R.C.V.S.
(Veterinary Members of the Faculty of Homeopathy (VetMFHom))

Sounds good but I have: BSc Hons., M.R.S.C. and it doesn't mean that much .
