Noob from Brighton - seeking help
The lovely people at Fancy Rats recommended this forum for my ulterior motive.
But first, a little info about me and my dog!
I'm Anne, 23 yo, currently doing a PhD in Brighton ... on dog vocal communication. My background is in experimental psychology (BSc) and applied animal behaviour and welfare (MSc).
I have one lovely dog, a golden retriever named Othello. He now lives in Brussels with my parents, as unfortunately I have only a small flat in Brighton and I'm so very busy that I feared I wouldn't be able to give him the time and attention he deserves. He's 8 years old, but he acts like about 3, and although he's happy to see me when I visit, I think he's decided that my mother's the real boss of this universe. Who can blame him.
I mentioned an ulterior motive ... which in fact has to do with my research. In a nutshell, I'm desperately looking for dog owners in Brighton who would be willing to let me make audio recordings of their dogs in various setup situations. However, this is probably not the section to go into detail about this!
So, erm, yeah - Greetings from Anne and Othello (who is thus named because he's a French goldie and all French animal names have to start with a letter specific to the year in which they were born. Despite not being a black lab, like most of the other Othellos in our old neighbourhood, it seemed a more suiting name than Ottawa or Ontario. We call him Otto anyway .... poor thing). Pictures soon, because now that I'm here I want to show off my perfect "puppy"!
