10 yr old Cocker Spaniel behaving like he is terrified.
My mother's 10 year old cocker spaniel is behaving strangely. He will be sleeping and suddenly yip and act like he is scared to death. He has never done this. Also when this happens he goes to another room. It is perfectly quiet when this happens so it is not caused by a loud noise. He seems terrified. My parents treat this dog like he is their baby. Please help. Thank you.

there could be a number of reasons for the behaviour including dreaming/pain/small seizures and the fact that your little dog is 10 years old could be a factor too.There is also a form of canine dementia called CCD (Canine cognitive dysfunction).I would note any other changes in behaviour and talk to your vet
