How I pill my 80+ lb puppy

He did well, I think!

P.S.

He does not take 5 pills each day, only the Vitamin C. I was trying out a "chewable" supplement for a bit which he in turn hated and it had to be broken into 4 bits and "pilled" to him.

Gave him allergies and was too inconvenient and expensive anyway so decided against the product.

No throwing the pills back at me, no running away or being a "puppy", and unlike my previous dog... no completely clamping the jaws shut ruining any chance of actually giving him the pill (end up having to hide it in something etc.)...

WAY HARDER to pill a 10 lb cat...

I too always, when necessary, use the same method. Purely being nosey why do you give Nigredo vit C tabs?

Aw bless him. Good boy!

Loki sits - or lies down and open her mouth for me to pop her meds down her throat! Mind you, she's had over 8 years of taking her meds!

Big hugs and cuddles to the gorgeous Nigredo, MF.

xx

Am I the only dog owner who doesn't give their dog 'supplements'?

My dogs don't have and have no need (at present) for supplements. I thought that a top quality dog food provides all they need now? Mind you I do give mine some fresh food too (fish, veggies and a little fruit) just for variety.

All I have to do is drop the pills in their food and they gobble it down while eating.

He gets Vitamin C for allergies and general coat health. I only gave him the other supplements as a sample, he no longer gets them.

They taste bad so he will not eat them from food but this is really not that bad, as you can see he was hardly bothered

No we don't use any now either, it's odd not putting various meds and supplements into their food, after 13 years of doing it for Molliepops and Duncan. Now Betty and Elsie don't need anything extra, but it seems strange.
