Best remedies for dog breath please

Any other ideas for elimating bad breath in dogs?

I use an enzyme toothpaste and teeth are brushed every 3 days and I use plaque off on his food every evening.
He's not a great chewer but I always provide chews for him but he's still pongy !

Anything else I can try???

The only problem I ever had with 'bad breath' in a dog turned out to be a TOOTH problem - abscess.

Otherwise I'd suggest it might be down to what your dog eats?

Thank you for your advice.

He had a scale and polish in June last year and vet advised no extraction necessary or any other probs.

She did say that it's a "Greyhound thing" , he was in racing kennels for the first 5 and a half years of his life and was fed on mainly meat stew and veg and probably tripe, so have always assumed it's down to eating sloppy food for so long. He also has a slightly undershot jaw?

When I brush his teeth they all look healthy but the gums are always a bit inflamed. Vet said nothing can be done for this except regular brushing

Think I'll take him to the Vets for a check up.

Thanks again.

If the vet gives his teeth the all clear I would try Petzlife, it comes in either a spray or a gel. It is marketed to help with tartar build up but also does freshen the breath.

I have had good results using this.

I was given the all clear by my UK dentist and hygienist in Dec last year. Got back to Cyprus in January in agony and have spent 800 euro at the dentist since! He could still have a problem but if it's a 'greyhound thing' well .... buy a nose peg!

Apart from "nose peg" you could try changing his diet (but slowly) to a hypoallergenic food?
